My Story
My fitness journey began with the pure love of sports. You name it, I wanted to play it. And not only did I want to play it, I wanted to be the best at it. Little competitive? Yea, I’d say so. Ultimately, I chose soccer as my main sport and the one I’d take all the way to the collegiate level. Once recruited to play in college, I began to explore the weight room. I was always a naturally skinny kid, so I knew I needed to pack on some muscle to compete at the collegiate level. Luckily for me, my dad was big into working out and introduced me to the iron paradise. He helped me build a strong foundation and love for lifting weights. It didn’t take long for my competitiveness to kick in and soon became obsessed with the gym. I began researching, reading, and watching anything related to getting stronger and building muscle. Training for soccer quickly turned into, “how do I get jacked and strong?”
Back then, it was all about the muscle magazines and bodybuilding.com, so my “education” was heavily focused on bodybuilding programs and techniques. I was slowly, but surely becoming a “meathead.” However, this wasn’t conducive with playing soccer at a high level, and ultimately, hindered my performance on the field. Too much muscle, too stiff, and not enough aerobic exercise held me back from being the player I could have been. Although I loved playing soccer, I ultimately decided to stop playing and continued to pursue bodybuilding. My goal became to compete in my first bodybuilding competition. I ended up competing in four bodybuilding competitions.
Throughout these years, things were starting to take a turn in my personal and family life, and the gym became a lot more than just lifting weights. It became a place of solace and therapy. A place where I could not only build my physical strength, but my mental and emotional strength as well. Looking back on those years, I realize more than ever why it is I do what I do now. I wanted to share this gift with as many others as I could. It began with training friends and family, and gradually turned into my profession. After years of training hundreds of clients, completing well over 10,000 training sessions, and investing tens of thousands of dollars in my own education and personal development, I still adopt the “White Belt Mentality” and always seek to learn and improve to provide my clientele with the best training experience possible.
